Lately I've been noticing a disturbing trend in my home town. People are neglecting a component of their automobiles which is absolutely vital to the safety of everyone on or near the road. Worse yet, people seem to be totally unwilling to acknowledge that this omission on their part is a problem. This can only lead to chaos and mayhem on our city streets, and worse than that, the lack of demand is resulting in production cuts that care causing widespread shortages. In fact, an entire industry is failing, which is going to hurt even more people in these tough economic times.
I'm referring, of course, to people's unwillingness to top up their blinker fluid.
One need only to spend five minutes on a city street corner in heavy traffic to see just how dire the problem truly is. There is such a shortage of blinker fluid that most vehicles on the road are negotiating intersections without the benefit of turn signals. The confusion caused by this is resuling in higher injury rates and more insurance claims than ever before. But worse still is the economic impact from the reduced blinker fluid demand.
All across the country, blinker fluid distilleries are closing down and laying off their staff. An entire town in northern Ontario was nearly bankrupted when their plant, which employed half the town's population, closed with little warning. And then there's the secondary industries that rely on continued blinker fluid production. Many of the farms in Saskatchewan and Manitoba which supply the special grains needed for the production of blinker fluid are finding themselves producing a product for which there is no market.
In the future, this lack of demand is going to trigger a lack of supply. I'm starting to notice this already. I'm finding it harder and harder to find a store in town that carries blinker fluid. I've even run out on occasion, being unable to find any in time. I can only hope that this disturbing trend doesn't continue, for I don't want to become part of the traffic anarchy on our streets, brought about because no one can find enough blinker fluid to keep themselves safe.
So in closing, support the blinker fluid industry! Keep your vehicle's blinker fluid tanks topped up; you'll not only be helping keep the roads safe, you'll be helping our economy as well!

blinker fluid = sarcasm?
I'm so confused :)
Identifying the core of the issue
Another perspective on the issue - perhaps the problem is that the "northern BCers" all have experienced frostbite on their hands, and therefore are unable to use the "blinkers" effectively. Perhaps we should switch to another method of activating the indicator. Do you think that perhaps in place of the horn, one could have a huge indicator button, that you could activate by hitting it with your head? This would seem appropriate for "redneck" country. Just a thought
