Something I've run across since my switch to Compiz on my laptop, which I figured I'd report here so that I can find the answer later on. (and some other reader out there might find it useful too)
When running the MythTV frontend in fullscreen mode on my laptop, my Gnome panels (the grey bars on the top and bottom fo the screen) were still visible. This was not the case when I ran Metacity as my window manager.
There are several solutions out there on the net, from writing a script to switch window managers before and after running MythTV, to setting the panels to auto-hide. However, here's the solution I use, which is quite easy and doesn't require any hacking.
After this, the Gnome panels are hidden like everything else when MythTV is started. And you get to keep using the fancy Compiz stuff while running MythTV.
