Ow my back!

Snail on a treeWell, Things have finally started to calm down after September Start-up.

KanadaTag

Since Canada Day fell on a Wednesday this year, my week's been totally screwed up. I feel like another week sneaked in there somewhere. Especially since this Canada Day was far busier for me than usual.

Rules for using the photocopier

I've compiled some rules for people who use the office photocopier. Following these rules will make sure everyone using the copier has a positive experience.

f-f-f-f-frickin' f-f-f-f-freez-z-z-z-zing!

I awoke this morning with a bang. Or rather, to a bang. Somewhere in the walls or ceiling of my house, timbers were shifting like tectonic plates. I guess you could say the bang was a housequake.

A brick, a brick, a marvelous brick

Hmph, yesterday at work my laptop failed to boot. GRUB stopped while loading stage 2.

I most recently had this this weekend, while trying to install Gentoo from a Live CD. Something about the version of GRUB on the AMD64 version of the CD prevented it from installing correctly. I ended up abandoning Gentoo and reinstalling Debian.

Anyway, I've become fairly well versed on this problem as of late, but more important things were taking my attention, so I set aside my freshly-bricked notebook until this morning.

Ten Mile Lake

Skiing at Ten-MileMy girlfriend and I were sitting at the table having breakfast and we decided to put a cross-country ski trip on our to-do list for the day. And not just an around-the-backyard trip either; we decided to drive out to Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park to use the trails out there.

On the pitfalls of wiring like a redneck

Well, my day started off all right. A good cup of coffee, a hearty breakfast, and then it was time to start my vehicle.

I was met with the noise every driver fears, the slow rur-rur-rur-rowr-rowr of the engine turning over too slowly to start.

Occasionally the engine would stutter, but it stubbornly refused to catch.

I figured, "Well, I didn't plug in last night, and it's -30°C right now, so it's probably too cold to start." I plugged in the block heater and went back inside.

Critical Shortage

Lately I've been noticing a disturbing trend in my home town. People are neglecting a component of their automobiles which is absolutely vital to the safety of everyone on or near the road. Worse yet, people seem to be totally unwilling to acknowledge that this omission on their part is a problem. This can only lead to chaos and mayhem on our city streets, and worse than that, the lack of demand is resulting in production cuts that care causing widespread shortages. In fact, an entire industry is failing, which is going to hurt even more people in these tough economic times.
